Prepare materials to be painted

Prepare materials to be painted

Gather the materials that you want to use for your silver Christmas décor makeover! For this project, Lauren Quigley is using real pinecones and pine branches for a more rustic vibe. If you’re using organic material, make sure it is clean and free of dust and debris. Alternately, you can use a faux evergreen garland and decorations.

COLORSHOT in Heads or Tails is used to give this DIY a shiny metallic finish. Be sure to shake the can of spray paint for 1 minute before applying.

Apply metallic spray paint to branches

Set up your spray painting station in a well-ventilated area. Protect the surrounding area from overspray with cardboard or other protective surface cover. Lay the branches flat on your work surface and apply the spray paint in smooth, even strokes. Allow the paint to dry to the touch, then flip the branches to paint the other side. This silver Christmas décor is already starting to shine with festivity!

Next, paint the pinecones for your silver Christmas décor.  Place the pinecones onto your work surface and apply the paint in smooth, even strokes. Rotate the pinecone and continue to apply spray paint until it is evenly coated. Allow the paint to dry to the touch.

Once the paint has dried to the touch on both the branches and pinecones, apply a second coat of metallic spray paint to your silver Christmas décor. Take your time with this second coat to ensure all the nooks and crannies of the pinecones and evergreen foliage have been covered with shiny silver spray paint.
