Make a Topography Wall Mural with Paint Markers

Think you don’t have the skillset to create a mural? Think again! We absolutely love this creative mural DIY from Havalah Turner ofSisters, What!, who was inspired by the cool patterns displayed on topographic maps. And in this post, Havalah will show you how easy it is to make your own topography mural with COLORSHOT Premium Paint Markers. Now you can study elevation levels of the earth’s surface and get artistic at the same time! (Or maybe just just get artistic. Science is hard. This mural isn’t.)

What you need:

- COLORSHOT Premium Paint Markers – desired colors

- Projector

- Topographic pattern

- Pencil

First things first! Before you get started on your mural, you’ll want to choose a topographic pattern that you like. There are so many options! You can look up the area you live in, or another place that’s special to you, or even just a pattern you think would look great in your space.

Use a projector to project pattern onto wall

Havalah recommends using a projector to project the pattern onto your wall for easy tracing. You might not be able to project the entire image onto your wall at once, so try dividing it into sections like Havalah did. (You’ll just want to make sure you align your pattern lines as you move the projector.)

Wipe down your walls to clean off any dust or residue, then project the topographic pattern onto the wall. Use a pencil to trace the pattern lines on the wall. You can also go straight to using your Paint Markers, but if you’re nervous about the projector getting bumped or moved while you’re working, using a pencil first helps alleviate that stress!

Now it’s time to get started with color! Prep your Paint Markers according to instructions, then use them to trace the topographic pattern lines on the wall. Remember to use the same color for the entire length of each line. (The lines can get kind of long and winding in different directions, so follow your pattern lines closely!)

Once you’ve finished tracing all of the lines, let your design dry completely before hanging any fixtures or artwork. And that’s it! So easy, right? If you can trace, you can make your own mural – COLORSHOT Paint Markers make it just that simple. What other creations are you inspired to make with COLORSHOT Premium Paint Markers?
