Use White Primer as a base for your dog house

Use White Primer as a base for your dog house

Give your dog house a quick sand paper scrub to remove the shiny finish if necessary. Tape off any areas you don’t want painted, then bring your dog house parts to a well-ventilated area to start painting. We recommend using White Primer as a base for your DIY dog house so that all of your chosen colors are extra vibrant!

Paint edge pieces, allow to dry, and cover with painter’s tape

Begin spray painting the edge pieces or “outline” parts of the dog house, so that you don’t have to worry about overspray with these portions later on. Once the edges are dry, cover them with painter’s tape to protect them from overspray.

Paint each row and move your tape rows up as you go

It’s time to customize your DIY dog house makeover with your favorite colors! Tape off each row on your dog house and work your way up using each color of spray paint that you’ve selected. Carefully peel off the tape after each row, then tape again before painting a new row— you’ll essentially just move your tape rows up as you go. Apply several light coats of paint until desired coverage is achieved, letting dry in between coats.

Remove painter’s tape and assemble the dog house

Your DIY dog house makeover is nearly complete! After the paint has dried completely, carefully remove the painter’s tape and touch up as necessary. Assemble your pooch’s new pad and have them settle into their cozy and colorful new home!
