Wipe down pots before painting

Before getting started on these easy painting tutorials, grab your supplies and make sure your flowerpots have been wiped down with a damp cloth or sponge to remove any dust. Let dry completely before painting.
Tape off sections for color blocking

For the color blocking part of these easy painting tutorials, it helps to use painter’s tape to section off your pot. This will prevent colors from mixing on your pots, and will also give you nice, clean edges for your blocking. You can make your color blocked sections as wide or as narrow as you prefer by cutting or layering tape strips to make them thinner or wider.
Paint between tape strips and let dry

Brush several coats of your chosen paint colors between the strips of tape, letting dry between coats. Once you’re happy with the coverage, remove the tape and allow the paint to dry before adding dimensional texture.
Sketch stripes onto color blocking

The next part of this easy painting tutorial is – you guessed it – adding texture with 3D Paint! Delineate Your Dwelling wanted to create monochromatic stripes within her color blocking, so she first used a pencil to lightly sketch vertical lines. You can of course just go for it with the 3D Paint, but sketching them first can help guide you as you apply the paint.
Apply 3D Paint to flowerpot

Easy Painting Tutorial Pro Tip for 3D Paint: Shake your paint well before using, then tap the tip down on your work surface (cap on) to help move the paint down to the tip. Practice applying on scratch paper or paper towels to get the hang of it before applying on your flowerpots. If you mess up while applying on your pots, you can easily wipe away with a damp paper towel while the paint is still wet, then reapply.
Brush random strokes of color on pot

The next design idea for these easy painting tutorials is super simple but makes a fun statement! First brush random strokes of acrylic paint all over your flowerpot and let dry.
Apply 3D Paint over brushstrokes

For added sheen and texture to the brushstrokes, apply and brush glitter 3D Paint over the tops of your brushstrokes and let dry. You can even add additional dots of dimensional color to accent your designs!
Brush acrylic paint onto top half of flowerpot

Ready to get even artsier with these easy painting tutorials? First brush a base color of acrylic paint on the top half or two-thirds of a flowerpot/pitcher. Your line work doesn’t have to be straight; keep it flowing!
Apply 3D Paint dots over acrylic paint

Once your acrylic paint base is dry, apply dots of 3D Paint over the top. You can make them evenly spaced or in whatever pattern you like.
Let paint dry completely

Let all of your flowerpots dry completely before adding plants!
