Create and cut a circle from foam core
To create the color wheel half of your DIY couples Halloween costume, first you’ll need a circle! Freshly Fuji used a protractor and pencil to create a perfectly rounded circle on white foam board, then cut it out with a box cutter. Sand the edges for a smooth finish.
Create 8 wedge shapes on circle
Use your yard stick and pencil to divide the circle into 8 even wedge sections. Freshly Fuji started by drawing a line down the center of the circle, then using a protractor to make markings at 45°, 90°, and 135° in the center on each side of the main line. Use these marks as a guide to create three straight lines, which will intersect and create your wedge shapes.
Cover other wedges and spray paint
Cover all wedges on your circle with kraft paper except one. Tape the edges down in place. This will help protect from overspray while painting each wedge a different color. Prep your first COLORSHOT spray paint color according to instructions, then apply several light coats to your wedge, letting dry between coats. When you are happy with the coverage, let dry.
Repeat covering and spray painting wedges
Remove paper from the next wedge, then cover the wedge you just painted to protect it from overspray. Or you can work in an every-other pattern if you are looking to get your wheel done a little sooner, because it gives the painted wedges more time to dry before covering.
Let color wheel dry completely
However you decide to apply your spray paints, make sure you work in color order, just like a color wheel! Allow the paint to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Glue ribbon to back side of color wheel
Once your painted wedges have dried, flip over your color wheel. Measure and cut a strand of ribbon long enough to fit around your neck. Mark the placement for each end of the ribbon on the back of your color wheel, then hot glue one end of the ribbon onto one of the markings. On the other marking, glue one of the hook & loop tape strips onto the marking, and the other onto the ribbon. Let dry and they will be ready to attach together.
Color Wheel DIY Couples Halloween Costume
Now the color wheel part of your DIY couples Halloween costume is complete!
Create 3 equal sections on foam board
For the paint chip portion of your DIY couples Halloween costume, first divide the foam board into 3 equal sections using a pencil and yard stick. Cover the bottom two sections with kraft paper and tape along the line of the first section for a clean edge.
Spray first spray paint color on top section
Spray several light coats of your lightest COLORSHOT spray paint color onto the first (top) section of your paint chip board, letting dry between coats. Once you are happy with the coverage, let dry and remove the tape and paper.
Repeat painting each section with the next darker hue
Cover over and tape off the top and bottom sections, then spray paint your medium hue onto the middle section. Let dry and repeat for the remaining section with your darkest hue.
Create paint names with Chalk Marker
Sketch the name of each spray paint color onto the corresponding color in the bottom left corner of the board, then trace over each name with the Marshmallow Chalk Marker. Let dry.
Glue ribbon to back of paint chip costume
Attach a strand of ribbon for the neck loop to the back of the paint chip costume in the same way as the color wheel.

Your DIY couples Halloween costume has its other half! PS. Does anyone else feel like repainting every room in their house now, or is that just us?
DIY Pet Halloween Costumes
To get your furry family members in on the fun, here are a few additional pet Halloween costume ideas to go with your DIY couples Halloween costume!
Use compass to create circles on foam board
For the paint palette costume, use a compass to help draw an inner and outer circle sized to fit around your dog’s neck.
Cut out circle and sketch pawprints
Cut out the circle and sketch pawprints around it.
Paint pawprints with acrylic paints
Paint each pawprint design with a different rainbow color using your COLORSHOT Acrylic Paints. Let dry completely.
Paint Palette Dog Costume
Isn’t this the cutest paint palette you’ve ever seen?! Or as Freshly Fuji calls it, a “Paint Pawlette”!
Cut foam board to fit dog and create chalkboard effect
For the doodle dog costume, trim the black foam board to fit your dog, then cut a circle out to fit around its head. Sand all of the edges for a smooth finish, then use a piece of chalk to create a chalkboard effect by rubbing the side of it all across the board. Use a rag to wipe some of it away.
Sketch dog body onto board
Use a pencil to sketch a dog doodle onto the board, then trace over it with Chalk Markers. Let dry completely.
